2nd Rifle Brigade were part of 25 Brigade, 8th Division. During the winter of 1916-1917 8th Division had been holding the line on part of the Somme battlefield. Charles Castle died of wounds on 5th February, after having been evacuated back to a base hospital at Rouen, but as yet there is no information as to when and where he was wounded. |
